FAMOUS FACES

The two 38-story towers that comprise 860/870 UN Plaza have been the “it” buildings for New York City’s cultural luminaries since the complex opened in 1965. Discover some of the business and entertainment icons who have called this “modernist masterpiece” home.

The Story of 860/870

860/870 United Nations Plaza in New York City is a perfect example of mid-century modern architecture. Designed by renowned architects Max Abramovitz and Wallace K. Harrison (who also designed the nearby United Nations Secretariat Building), the 38-story co-op apartment houses opened in 1965 and immediately became the "it" residence for prominent changemakers in business, entertainment and politics. We are proud to say that many connoisseurs of architecture, real estate and interior design own co-ops here today — proof positive that UN Plaza is still the epitome of gracious living in Manhattan.

Clad from top to bottom by glass curtain walls, the twin buildings have beautiful proportions, understated elegance and timeless appeal. Their secret power lies in their spectacular unobstructed views of the Big Apple in all of its abundance and humanity.

Inside, there radiates a bright energy — not just from the sunlight and nighttime lights of the metropolis, but from the sheer breadth of the breathtaking horizon-to-horizon views. Thanks to the buildings' proximity to the river on the east and the United Nations on the south, those marvelous views will never be blocked.

When you live at 860/870 UN Plaza, you truly feel you are on top of the world and that your future will be filled with all of the exciting opportunities that New York City brings. The greatest city in the world is, quite literally, at your feet.
